A 5.3-magnitude earthquake struck Wednesday the South Sandwich Islands, a British overseas territory in the South Atlantic Ocean. The US Geological Survey (USGS) said that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 35 km. There were no reports of material damage or human losses as a result of the earthquake.
