Dubai: EDGE, a prominent advanced technology and defence group, has announced a significant cooperation agreement with Republikorp, Indonesia’s leading defence holding company, at the Dubai Airshow 2025. This collaboration aims to establish a localized defence manufacturing ecosystem in Indonesia.
According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement involves a $7 billion financing and procurement package facilitated by the UAE. This initiative is set to enhance Indonesia’s defence modernisation, technological capacity, and industrial self-sufficiency. The deal marks EDGE Group’s largest international program to date and signifies a substantial investment in Indonesia’s path towards defence self-reliance.
The partnership will focus on the transfer of technology, localized production, and co-development initiatives, alongside a comprehensive modernisation program for the Indonesian Armed Forces. The collaboration will showcase an array of advanced defence systems, including the SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, next-generation infantry fighting vehicles, unmanned stealth missile boats, cyber defence, and small arms ammunition production.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that it represents a significant milestone in EDGE’s international expansion. He highlighted the collaborative effort with Republikorp to build a modernized and self-sustaining defence ecosystem that will strengthen Indonesia’s national security and industrial capability. This program underscores EDGE’s commitment to enduring collaboration, technology transfer, and delivering advanced integrated systems.
Norman Joesoef, Group Chairman of Republikorp, expressed that the partnership marks a crucial step towards Indonesia’s long-term defence autonomy and industrial independence. He noted that the collaboration with EDGE is an investment in both systems and human capital, benefiting both the UAE and Indonesia. Joesoef emphasized that this partnership extends beyond corporate cooperation, signifying a bond between two brotherly nations.
