Abu dhabi: Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) has announced an agreement to increase its supply of CelestiAL solar aluminium to Brembo, a leader in braking solutions. CelestiAL, produced in the UAE using solar power, significantly reduces the emissions associated with aluminium smelting.
According to Emirates News Agency, this agreement extends an existing supply partnership with Brembo, which has received aluminium from EGA since 2019 for its innovative braking systems. Aluminium’s properties such as light weight, strength, and corrosion resistance make it essential for the automotive industry. EGA is a major supplier of foundry alloys, catering to global automotive giants like BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Nissan.
Brembo, established in 1961 in Bergamo, Italy, is renowned for designing and producing high-performance braking technology. It provides advanced systems to prestigious automotive manufacturers for both road and racetrack vehicles.
Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, emphasized their commitment to producing high-quality, low-carbon metal, expressing enthusiasm for continuing the partnership with Brembo. Beatrice Sarti, Brembo’s Chief Purchasing Officer, highlighted the agreement’s role in reducing emissions by nearly 50%, aligning with Brembo’s sustainability goals.
EGA is notable for being the first to produce aluminium commercially using solar power, with electricity generation contributing significantly to the aluminium industry’s greenhouse gas emissions. The company is also certified to the global standard for quality management in the automotive supply chain.
