Patna: At least eight women lost their lives, and approximately 10 individuals sustained injuries during a stampede at a temple in Bihar, India, a local police officer reported on Tuesday.
According to Emirates News Agency, the tragic incident occurred at the Sheetla temple situated in the Deepnagar area of Bihar's Nalanda district around 10:00 am local time. The chaotic situation unfolded as devotees gathered at the temple, leading to the deadly stampede.
Video footage circulating on various social media platforms depicted the injured women being hurriedly taken to a nearby hospital. There are concerns that the death toll may rise as some of the injured remain in critical condition.
Authorities have initiated an enquiry to investigate the cause of the stampede and to prevent such incidents in the future.
