Emirates Courier Express Expands Its Reach to Four Major Australian Cities

Sydney: Emirates has expanded its Emirates Courier Express solution into Australia, marking a significant step in the airline's efforts to enhance the cross-border delivery experience. This expansion comes just months after the service's initial launch.

According to Emirates News Agency, Emirates Courier Express packages will now fly directly into four major Australian cities-Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney-on 70 flights per week. The expanded service leverages the existing passenger flight schedule to and from Australia, which is strategically timed to provide optimal connectivity with key destinations in Europe and the Middle East. This setup allows Emirates Courier Express to offer fast door-to-door delivery in just a few days.

Dennis Lister, Senior Vice President of Product and Innovation at Emirates SkyCargo, emphasized the strategic importance of Australia in the company's plans. He stated, "Since the early test phase of Emirates Courier Express, we knew Australia would be a key market. Logistically challenging and historically underserved, businesses and end consumers will feel the benefits of our direct connectivity, high frequency flight schedules and flexible, scalable solution."

Despite increasing consumer trust in cross-border eCommerce retailers, the International Trade Administration reports that only 6 percent of international shoppers are currently buying from Australia. Challenges related to delivery and logistics, such as fluctuating costs and lengthy timelines, deter consumers from making purchases. However, the inbound small parcel volume to Australia has surged by 45 percent in the past two years, with a record number of households engaging in online shopping.
