Dubai: Emirates today announced orders for 65 additional Boeing 777-9 aircraft, powered by GE 9X engines, worth $38 billion at list prices, on the opening day of the Dubai Airshow 2025.

According to Emirates News Agency, this order increases the airline's total orderbook with Boeing to 315 widebody aircraft, including 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. Additionally, Emirates' orderbook with GE Aerospace for GE9X engines has reached a total of 540 units, following the inclusion of 130 additional units signed today. This commitment signifies substantial support for US aerospace manufacturing, creating numerous high-value manufacturing jobs in the US over the life of the programmes.

Emirates' latest agreement with Boeing also enhances Boeing's feasibility study to develop the 777-10, a larger variant of its 777X family. The airline has signed up for options to convert its latest 777-9 order into the 777-10 or the 777-8. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized the airline's ongoing partnership with Boeing and GE, highlighting that the order aligns with Emirates' expansion plans and Dubai's growth strategies. The airline anticipates receiving the first 777-9 deliveries in the second quarter of 2027, equipped with advanced onboard products.

Sheikh Ahmed also expressed Emirates' interest in larger capacity aircraft that are more efficient to operate, supporting Boeing's study to develop the 777-10. Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed gratitude for Emirates' continued selection of the Boeing 777X. She acknowledged the longstanding partnership between Boeing and Emirates, noting that the airline has been a significant supporter of Boeing for the past 40 years.

Following today's order, Emirates will be expecting Boeing aircraft deliveries up to 2038, involving a wide array of US locations such as Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, Vermont, and Washington. This long-term collaboration will engage the expertise of numerous workers involved in the manufacturing and assembly of the 777X and GE9X engines.
