Emirates Partners with GE Aerospace to Enhance Engine Repair Capabilities

Dubai: Emirates has signed an agreement with GE Aerospace to advance piece part repair capabilities for engine maintenance. The collaboration focuses on technical and training consultancy aimed at developing comprehensive repair capabilities for GE90 and GP 7200 engines.

According to Emirates News Agency, the agreement was formalized by Adel Al Redha, Emirates' Deputy President and Chief Operating Officer, and Mohamed Ali, President and CEO of Commercial Engines and Services at GE Aerospace, at the Emirates Group headquarters. This partnership is set to bolster the expansion of the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), which represents a US$300 million investment to enhance infrastructure and capabilities for engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul.

GE Aerospace will provide technical consultancy to assist Emirates in establishing a piece part component repair line. Additionally, knowledge transfer to the EEMC team will be facilitated to ensure best practices and benchmarks in component repair are adhered to. This initiative is expected to equip the workforce with specialized skills necessary for component repair of the GE90 and GP 7200 engines, which power Boeing 777 and part of the Airbus A380 fleet.

Adel Al Redha emphasized the strategic importance of the agreement, noting that it will enable Emirates Engineering to become a center of excellence for engine repairs, ensuring efficient and seamless engine serviceability. Mohamed Ali expressed pride in supporting Emirates' expansion of repair capabilities, reinforcing GE Aerospace's commitment to supporting customers' in-service fleets throughout their life cycle.

Emirates Engineering is renowned for providing comprehensive engineering, line, and base maintenance support for its fleet of over 270 Boeing 777, Airbus A380, and Airbus A350 aircraft. The Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre, established in 2014, remains a pivotal facility for the repair and maintenance of aircraft engines within the Emirates fleet.
