Dubai: Emirati businessman Ali Obaid Belresheed Al Ketbi, Chairman of Belresheed Group, has joined the Edge of Life campaign, pledging AED 1 million to support the initiative aimed at rescuing five million children from hunger.
According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign was inaugurated during Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with a goal to raise at least AED 1 billion to combat childhood hunger globally. The effort is part of a broader strategy to support underprivileged populations and reinforce the UAE's commitment to humanitarian efforts.
The Edge of Life campaign operates under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and is organized in collaboration with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger. Contributions are being received from both individuals and institutions.
Ali Obaid Belresheed Al Ketbi expressed his support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of addressing the risks of hunger and malnutrition faced by millions of children worldwide. He emphasized the honor of participating in the UAE's humanitarian mission and the significance of the campaign's objectives.
The campaign specifically targets children in the most vulnerable communities worldwide, including those affected by natural disasters and conflicts. Statistics indicate that five children under the age of five die from malnutrition and hunger every minute globally.
