Dubai: Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fujairah Geographical Information Systems Centre to bolster cooperation and innovation in geospatial systems and data management. This strategic partnership was formalized on the opening day of GITEX 2025 in Dubai, with the presence of Sheikh Eng. Mohammed bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi, Director General of Fujairah Digital Government. Representing EtihadWE was Eng. Salim Mohamed Binrabeeh, Chief Commercial Officer, while Dr. Ahmed Hassan Al Murshidi, Director General, represented the Fujairah GIS Centre.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU seeks to enhance institutional integration and facilitate the exchange of data and expertise within the field of GIS. This initiative is expected to improve efficiency in urban planning and infrastructure and support the development of digital and smart services across the Emirate of Fujairah. Additionally, the collaboration aims to strengthen electronic connectivity between the two entities, optimizing the use of technological resources and enabling digital transformation in geospatial data exchange.
Eng. Salim Binrabeeh emphasized that the MoU demonstrates EtihadWE's commitment to advancing digital transformation and leveraging geospatial data to improve service quality and operational efficiency. He noted that the partnership with the Fujairah GIS Centre exemplifies successful collaboration between federal and local entities, aligning with the UAE's vision for smart and integrated governance.
Dr. Ahmed Al Murshidi highlighted that the collaboration with EtihadWE represents a strategic advancement in developing Fujairah's geospatial data infrastructure. This partnership is expected to facilitate secure and systematic data sharing among entities, supporting sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life across the Emirate.
