EU Launches $1 Billion Initiative to Support Gaza Recovery

Brussels: The European Commission today announced the launch of a joint initiative with 15 partners to provide £883.6 million, equivalent to around US$1 billion, in assistance to support recovery efforts in the Gaza Strip. The initiative, named Team Gaza, was unveiled during a meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee for the Coordination of the International Assistance to Palestinians in Brussels.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Team Gaza initiative aims to support ongoing and planned early recovery projects for the benefit of Gaza's residents. The initiative is a collaborative effort involving 12 European countries, Japan, the World Bank, and the European Investment Bank, showcasing a significant international commitment to the region.

The financial aid is intended to address various aspects of recovery in Gaza, focusing on improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education, among other sectors. The initiative is expected to provide vital support to the residents of Gaza, who have been facing significant challenges due to ongoing geopolitical tensions and economic instability.
