Eurozone Inflation Hits Three-Year High at 3.8% in September

Brussels:Euro area annual inflation is anticipated to have climbed to 3.8 percent in September, up from 3.2 percent in August, marking its highest level in three years.

According to Emirates News Agency, a flash estimate released by Eurostat on Friday highlighted significant increases in energy prices, which recorded the highest annual rate among the main components of inflation, soaring to 18.8 percent in September from 14.3 percent in August.

Furthermore, inflation in services rose to 3.2 percent from 3.0 percent, while the inflation rate for food, alcohol, and tobacco increased to 1.4 percent from 1.1 percent. In contrast, inflation for non-energy industrial goods saw a slight decrease, easing to 1.1 percent from 1.2 percent in August.

Core inflation, which excludes volatile categories such as energy, food, alcohol, and tobacco, edged slightly higher to 2.5 percent from 2.4 percent in the previous month.
