Eurozone Inflation Jumps to 2.5% in March

Brussels: Eurozone annual inflation surged to 2.5 percent in March, up sharply from 1.9 percent in February, according to a flash estimate published by Eurostat on Tuesday.

According to Emirates News Agency, energy inflation experienced a significant turnaround, increasing year-on-year by 4.9 percent after contracting by 3.1 percent in February. This represents a nearly 8 percentage point shift in just one month.

Core inflation, however, showed a slight decline, dropping to 2.3 percent from 2.4 percent. This figure fell short of the consensus expectation of 2.4 percent. Services inflation also saw a modest decrease, easing from 3.4 percent to 3.2 percent. In contrast, non-energy industrial goods fell to 0.5 percent from 0.7 percent, indicating a broader trend of declining inflation in certain sectors.
