FIFA Celebrates ‘One Year to Go’ Until FIFA World Cup 26

Miami: On 11 June 2026, the world will come together in North America for the kick-off of the FIFA World Cup 26. Taking place across three countries and 16 vibrant Host Cities with a newly expanded pool of 48 teams, the tournament will be the largest and most inclusive FIFA World Cup in history. According to Emirates News Agency, the 2026 edition is expected to welcome 6.5 million fans to stadiums across Canada, Mexico, and the United States, uniting the continent and globe through football. FIFA President Gianni Infantino emphasized the global nature of the tournament, stating, 'This is more than a tournament, it's a global celebration of connection, unity, and passion.' The milestone comes as the United States prepares to host the new FIFA Club World Cup, starting this Saturday in Miami, Florida. This tournament will feature 32 top international club teams competing for the title of FIFA's true club world champion. In celebration of 'One Year to Go,' all 16 Host Cities will unveil countdown clocks with t he city's locally inspired Official Host City Brand. The clocks, installed in central locations, will countdown to midnight on 11 June 2026, marking the start of the event. Local community events and celebrations will be held throughout North America. Each Host City will also release a video with a local celebrity or personality highlighting the city's unique features. President Infantino also highlighted the cultural display of each Host City, stating that the FIFA World Cup will showcase all that North America has to offer. The first 13 teams, including co-hosts Canada, Mexico, and the USA, have already qualified, with the remaining teams to be confirmed by March 2026. Tickets for the FIFA World Cup 26 will be available to the public soon, with select hospitality packages already on sale. Additional packages will be available in July.
