Dubai: Firdaus Orchestra, an initiative by Expo City Dubai and the first all-female orchestra in the UAE, concluded the inaugural season of its 'Firdaus Nights' concert series with an operatic performance titled 'Opera at Al Wasl Plaza'. The event marked the end of a series of successful performances.
According to Emirates News Agency, the event was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, alongside senior officials from Expo City Dubai and media representatives from across the region. The concert featured three internationally renowned opera vocalists, led by Emirati soprano Fatima Al Hashemi, and included Serbian artist Ana Kovacevic and Russian soprano Alina Vassina. The trio performed a selection of solo and ensemble pieces from the global operatic repertoire.
The performances took place at the Al Wasl Plaza, known for its advanced audiovisual technology, creating an atmosphere that resonated with the audience. Firdaus Orchestra, which includes over 50 female musicians from 24 nationalities, launched the 'Firdaus Nights' series in November with a concert celebrating classical music masterpieces.
The second concert, held in January, marked the Lunar New Year, followed by a third concert during Ramadan, featuring Arabic melodies and a special performance by the Ayoub Sisters. These concerts attracted an enthusiastic and multicultural audience, reflecting the initiative's mission to promote orchestral music across different segments of society and inspire younger generations.
Established during Expo 2020 Dubai, Firdaus Orchestra has collaborated with acclaimed artists such as operatic legend Andrea Bocelli, Grammy-winning musician Wouter Kellerman, and global icon Beyonc©.
