Five Dead in Helicopter Crash on Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania

Moshi: Five people have died after a helicopter crashed on Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest peak, in northern Tanzania. The crash occurred on Wednesday evening along one of the mountain's most popular climbing routes during what police described as a medical evacuation mission to pick up patients.

According to Emirates News Agency, among the deceased were two foreign nationals who had been picked up for evacuation, a local doctor, a tour guide, and the pilot. The incident underscores the risks associated with medical evacuation efforts in challenging terrains like Mount Kilimanjaro.

The Kilimanjaro regional police commander informed reporters that the aircraft was operated by Kilimanjaro Aviation, a company that provides medical evacuation and other aviation services. The company is known for its critical role in facilitating emergency medical assistance in the region, particularly for climbers and tourists.
