Five Emiratis Named NEP 4.0 Fellows

Abu dhabi: Five Emirati professionals have been recognized as Fellows of the UAE's National Experts Programme (NEP), marking a significant step in the country's effort to bolster expertise in key national sectors. The new Fellows include leaders in artificial intelligence, genomics, security, public policy, and space technology.

According to Emirates News Agency, NEP's Cohort 4.0 comprised 25 Emirati professionals from various fields, with the five Fellows selected after a rigorous evaluation and development process. This program aims to enhance national capabilities across critical sectors by fostering leadership and multidisciplinary expertise.

These Fellows are poised to contribute significantly to the UAE's strategic goals. Faisal Al Hawi is at the forefront of integrating artificial intelligence into government services as the director of the AI Factory at the Department of Government Enablement. His role involves developing sovereign AI systems that will form the backbone of public services.

Dr. Mohamed AlAmeri, a genomic scientist, is instrumental in advancing precision medicine at the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi. He leads initiatives linked to the Emirati Genome Project, aiming to incorporate genomics into national healthcare.

Dr. Mohamed AlShamsi brings his expertise in forensic ballistics to the Dubai Police, where he heads the Firearms and Toolmarks Section. His work focuses on evidence analysis, crucial for maintaining trust in complex investigations.

Sumaya Al Hajeri is a key figure in public policy, working to establish governance frameworks for AI and digital infrastructure. Her efforts ensure that innovation aligns with institutional readiness.

In the realm of space technology, Dr. Khalid Al Naqbi directs satellite communications development at Space42, supporting essential government and commercial operations with secure space-based technologies.

Since its inception in 2019, the National Experts Programme has advanced 86 Emirati professionals, with 20 now holding the Fellow title. These experts form a network intended to drive ongoing cross-sector collaboration and knowledge sharing.
