Abu dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), today received Shigeru Ishiba, head of the Japan-UAE Parliamentary Friendship League and former Japanese Prime Minister, along with the accompanying parliamentary delegation, at the FNC headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting focused on strengthening and further developing parliamentary diplomacy between the two nations through exchanges and increased coordination on mutual interests.
According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions aimed to bolster the existing cooperation between the UAE and Japan across various sectors, in line with their leaderships’ shared commitment to advancing bilateral relations. This initiative seeks to serve the interests and aspirations of both countries’ populations. FNC members were present at the meeting, which underscored the UAE’s dedication to fostering partnerships with Japan.
Ghobash extended a warm welcome to Ishiba and his delegation, reinforcing the UAE’s commitment to collaboration with Japan. He attributed the ongoing development of bilateral relations to the support and guidance from both nations’ leadership. Ghobash expressed gratitude to Ishiba for his visit, highlighting the strength of the friendship between the two countries.
During the meeting, Ghobash congratulated Japan on its successful hosting of Expo 2025 Osaka, praising the event’s organisational efficiency and leadership. He commended the UAE delegation’s participation, noting it enhanced the UAE’s international presence and reinforced its image as a cultural partner of Japan.
Ishiba highlighted the robust strategic relations and partnership between Japan and the UAE, covering a range of sectors including politics, economics, investment, education, technology, innovation, and renewable energy.
