Abu Dhabi:Dr. Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Defence, Interior and Foreign Affairs Committee of the Federal National Council (FNC), welcomed Marcos Perestrello, President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, along with his delegation in Abu Dhabi to discuss strengthening parliamentary cooperation.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting emphasized the importance of exchanging expertise and improving coordination with the parliaments of NATO member states. Dr. Al Nuaimi expressed the FNC's dedication to enhancing relations with both regional and international parliamentary bodies, promoting parliamentary diplomacy to foster dialogue and understanding on mutual concerns.
Dr. Al Nuaimi elaborated on the UAE's strategy to promote tolerance, coexistence, and peace, encouraging dialogue and respect for cultural and religious diversity, and supporting development efforts while respecting state sovereignty. He also underscored the country's commitment to political solutions that bolster security, reduce tensions, and protect civilians to achieve long-lasting stability.
The discussions also covered several regional and international issues of shared interest, with both parties highlighting the importance of strengthening dialogue and supporting initiatives to promote security, stability, and international cooperation.
