Abu dhabi: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), engaged in discussions with Salvatore Caiata, Chairman of the Italy-UAE Friendship Committee in the Italian Parliament, focusing on enhancing parliamentary cooperation and developing bilateral relations between the two countries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions in Abu Dhabi covered the overall regional developments, including the Iranian missile attacks targeting the United Arab Emirates and several neighboring countries. The talks highlighted the repercussions of these attacks on regional and international security, international navigation, energy supplies, and the global economy.
Saqr Ghobash reiterated the UAE's commitment to fostering cooperation and partnership with Italy across various fields. He highlighted the visit as a reflection of deep solidarity and a sincere stance, emphasizing the Committee's appreciated role in strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation. Ghobash noted the importance of international clarity and responsibility during crises.
He expressed appreciation for Italy's supportive stance against the Iranian attacks, referencing the visit of Giorgia Meloni, Italy's Prime Minister, to the UAE in April. This visit underscored political support and clarity of vision. Ghobash stressed that true partnerships are validated during testing times.
Ghobash detailed the UAE's reliance on national defense capabilities to confront the aggression, successfully intercepting approximately 95% of targeting drones and missiles. He emphasized the importance of reassessing international relations to clarify true positions during crises, highlighting the significance of stability and partnerships.
He further explained that the threat from the Iranian constitution extends beyond political and security dimensions, touching on educational and ideological aspects. He remarked on the structured ideological orientation introduced in educational curricula since the Iranian revolution.
