Baku: Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), led the UAE official delegation to the international parliamentary conference celebrating the 30th anniversary of the adoption of Azerbaijan's Constitution. The conference, hosted by the National Assembly of Azerbaijan, took place at the invitation of its Speaker, Sahiba Gafarova, from 28th to 31st October.
According to Emirates News Agency, in his address to the event, Ghobash remarked that the historic occasion marks a significant milestone in Azerbaijan's journey, highlighting the nation's success in building a modern state grounded in sovereignty, independence, and sustainable development. He emphasized that the constitution transcends being a mere legal document, serving as an embodiment of national values and a foundation for citizenship and peace.
Ghobash further elaborated on the UAE-Azerbaijan relations, describing them as a model of bonds founded on mutual respect and common interests. He noted that these ties have been further strengthened by the historic visit of President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Baku in September, which initiated a new phase of bilateral cooperation. This visit opened promising prospects in renewable energy, green economy, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence.
He concluded by stating that the UAE-Azerbaijan relations have become a conduit for communication between the Gulf region, the Caucasus, and Central Asia. They serve as a successful model in integrating political realism with a vision for the future to achieve regional and international security and stability.
