Lebanon's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, in a statement on Sunday, that it is monitoring "with concern the development of events in the buffer zone between the two parts of the island of Cyprus, following the attack on the United Nations peacekeeping mission on August 18." The Ministry stressed "the need to respect the role of this mission in maintaining security and stability on the island until a comprehensive and just settlement of the Cyprus issue is reached based on the relevant Security Council resolutions."
