Fujairah: H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, inaugurated the Apex Chemical Industries factory, marking the emirate's first integrated facility specialized in producing ground calcium carbonate. This event underscores Fujairah's commitment to attracting investment projects in the mining and sustainable industries sectors, thereby bolstering the national economy.
According to Emirates News Agency, the inauguration was attended by Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad bin Saif Al Sharqi and several local officials. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the Fujairah Government's dedication, guided by H.H. Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, to developing economic projects that support the local economy and reinforce Fujairah's status as a key industrial destination. The efforts aim to advance sustainable development in both the local and global mining and manufacturing sectors.
Apex Chemical Industries highlighted Fujairah as a prime investment hub due to its rich natural resources and the supportive environment fostered by the government. The factory was strategically established to address the UAE's growing demand for industrial materials, reducing reliance on imports by utilizing Fujairah's natural resources. The facility includes a unit for producing chemicals and building solutions for the infrastructure sector, marking a step towards industrial self-sufficiency.
Mohammed Saif Al Afkham, Chairman of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, stated that the factory reflects the Corporation's dedication to optimizing natural resources under the directives of Fujairah's leadership. The Corporation's strategic plans aim to support the sector's future, sustainable development goals, and economic growth by fostering innovative industrial solutions and creating new markets.
Ali Qasim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation, noted that the factory will cater to both local and international markets. Calcium carbonate, with its varied technical and practical properties, is crucial for numerous industries. He expressed optimism that the factory will spearhead further industrial projects that contribute to sustainable development and enhance Fujairah's industrial status.
The facility covers 7,700 square meters in the Thoban area, with an annual production capacity of 200,000 tons across two phases. Its pioneering nature lies in its sustainable operation, using electricity to power production lines in compliance with global environmental standards.
