Abu Dhabi: In a significant move to strengthen UAE-Italy strategic relations, G42, the prominent AI technology group from Abu Dhabi, through its subsidiary Core42, has announced a strategic partnership with iGenius. The collaboration aims to establish the largest AI compute deployment in Europe.
According to Emirates News Agency, this partnership highlights the increasing momentum in bilateral ties and aligns with the leadership vision of both nations to drive innovation and enable economic advancement through advanced technology and knowledge exchange. The agreement sets a framework for collaboration, positioning G42 as a key player in global digital transformation, with Core42 playing a crucial role in the AI infrastructure partnership. The shared ambition is to integrate AI into critical value chains, fostering regional resilience and sustainable growth.
The announcement was made during the 3rd Edition of Investopia Europe, attended by senior Italian ministers and UAE officials, including Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of Investopia, Adolfo Urso, Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy, and Alia bint Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, along with leadership from G42, Core42, and iGenius.
Central to the partnership is the deployment of a high-performance GPU cluster powered by NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, marking a milestone in enabling sovereign AI infrastructure for the European market. This pan-European AI rollout will be managed by Core42, specializing in sovereign cloud, AI infrastructure, and digital services. iGenius is leading the digital transformation with its data center, Colosseum, featuring over 100 Exaflops of compute designed for sovereign AI workloads.
The initial development is more than just a data center; it serves as a blueprint for sovereign AI factories, catering to use cases that demand high security, reliability, and accuracy. The compute cluster will accelerate AI training, inferencing, and application development across key European industries, including financial services, manufacturing, and the public sector, meeting the region's demand for secure, scalable, high-performance infrastructure in line with Europe's digital sovereignty objectives.
Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of Investopia, commented that the partnership is a testament to the strong economic cooperation between the UAE and Italy, emphasizing shared commitment to building partnerships in sectors like AI that drive global transformation. Kiril Evtimov, Group Chief Technology Officer, G42 and CEO, Core42, noted that the partnership marks a new chapter in boosting the European AI economy, reflecting commercial promise and strategic trust between the UAE and Italy.
