GCC Group at UN Renews Condemnation of Israeli Attacks on Iran, Its Nuclear Facilities

New York: The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Group at the United Nations reiterated its condemnation of the Israeli attacks on Iran and its nuclear facilities, warning of the serious repercussions of these attacks on the security and stability of the region.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Group described these actions as a clear violation of the principles of international law and the UN Charter. This stance was articulated in a speech delivered by Deputy Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations, Minister Plenipotentiary Faisal Al-Enezi, on behalf of the GCC Group during an emergency session of the UN Security Council to discuss the escalation between Israel and Iran.

The GCC Group emphasized its firm position on the perilous events unfolding in the region, noting that the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are actively pursuing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions. The Group underscored the importance of prioritizing diplomacy and dialogue, urging all parties to exercise utmost restraint and cease hostilities immediately amid the sensitive circumstances.

The Group also highlighted the necessity of avoiding risks that could expand the conflict and called for a return to dialogue and negotiations as the optimal approach to overcoming the current crisis and ensuring sustained regional and international security.

Furthermore, the Group called on the Security Council and the international community to fulfill their responsibilities in halting the conflict, preventing further escalation, and advancing US-Iranian negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman. The Group stressed the importance of respecting state sovereignty and adhering to the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
