Geneva: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), the GWU, in partnership with AD Ports Group, has launched the international track of the "Atlaq" training programme. This launch took place during the "Equality Dialogue: AI, Trade and Inclusive Digital Entrepreneurship" session at the AI for Good Global Summit 2026 in Geneva, Switzerland. The initiative aims to bolster women's roles in digital trade and logistics by enhancing leadership capabilities in line with the evolving digital economy and global supply chains.
According to Emirates News Agency, Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women's Union, highlighted that this launch underscores the Union's commitment to sharing the UAE's successful experience in women's empowerment on a global stage. This initiative is backed by the UAE leadership and the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak to prepare women for future-focused sectors. She expressed gratitude to AD Ports Group for its contribution to the programme, which leverages its expertise in digital trade and logistics to empower women and refine their specialised skills both locally and internationally.
Al Suwaidi emphasized that empowering women in digital trade and logistics is crucial for enhancing their role in the global economy. The international track provides a professional platform for women to gain advanced technical and leadership skills necessary for understanding international trade systems and managing global supply chains efficiently. She also noted that the partnership exemplifies the synergy of national efforts to promote women's empowerment and showcases the capacity of UAE institutions to deliver scalable training models with global reach.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, stated that the strategic alliance with the General Women's Union demonstrates the Group's dedication to the UAE's vision of empowering women and enhancing their role in leading future economic sectors. Ghalia Ali Al Mannaee, Head of Strategic and Development Affairs at the General Women's Union, noted that the international track embodies the "Mother of the Nation 50:50" vision by creating advanced professional pathways for women to excel in digital trade and logistics. She explained that the programme has been revamped by AD Ports Group experts to meet international standards, integrating artificial intelligence, data analytics, digital solutions, and practical applications in global trade and shipping.
The programme follows an integrated training approach that combines self-paced learning, intensive practical training, advanced workshops, and career mentoring. It focuses on four key areas: digital trade fundamentals and shipping data analytics; smart logistics solutions and global supply chain management; cybersecurity in international trade; and agile working methodologies.
