New york: The General Women’s Union (GWU) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bahrain’s Supreme Council for Women to enhance cooperation and share successful experiences in the empowerment and advancement of women. This agreement underscores the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.
According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed during the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, which saw participation from high-level delegations worldwide. This new agreement builds on the collaboration that began with the first memorandum signed in December 2007, aiming to expand institutional partnerships and coordinate efforts in line with evolving priorities.
The memorandum focuses on integrating women’s needs into sustainable development, promoting equal opportunities, and achieving gender balance. It also includes organizing joint initiatives to enhance women’s participation in social, economic, and political spheres. Cooperation will extend to exchanging specialized studies, organizing joint events, and coordinating positions at regional and international forums.
The MoU emphasizes the importance of regular follow-ups to ensure effective implementation, highlighting the commitment of both parties to support common goals through shared expertise and resources.
