General Women’s Union Expands ‘Suqia, Fatima bint Mubarak’ Initiative to Aid Outdoor Workers

Abu dhabi: The General Women's Union (GWU), under the guidance of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, continues to implement the 'Suqia, Fatima bint Mubarak' initiative, which aims to foster community solidarity, especially during the summer months.

According to Emirates News Agency, the initiative, launched in 2016 in partnership with public and private sector entities, provides crucial support to outdoor workers who face extreme heat conditions. It involves distributing water, juices, and dates, as well as providing protective gear like umbrellas to help alleviate the effects of heat stress during peak hours.

The campaign is carried out during July, August, and September, targeting thousands of workers across Abu Dhabi. This effort aligns with Sheikha Fatima's ongoing commitment to support laborers and acknowledge their contributions to society.

This year, the initiative has expanded both geographically and in scope, introducing new distribution points and additional services in collaboration with national institutions. This expansion supports Sheikha Fatima's humanitarian vision, emphasizing empowerment, compassion, and promoting the UAE as a symbol of generosity and tolerance.

Noura Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the GWU, emphasized that the initiative serves as a model of humanitarian service championed by Sheikha Fatima. She highlighted that it mirrors the UAE's fundamental values of solidarity and compassion, reinforcing the Union's commitment to sustainable community support initiatives tailored to meet the needs of laborers, particularly during the challenging summer period.

Al Suwaidi also reiterated the GWU's dedication to further developing the initiative in collaboration with partners, enhancing the UAE's international reputation as a center of humanitarian outreach.
