Grand Egyptian Museum Unveiled Amid Global Celebrations

Cairo: Saturday marked a significant milestone for Egypt as the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) opened its doors in a grand international celebration near the Giza Pyramids. The event highlighted Egypt's historical importance and its continued influence on global civilization. According to Emirates News Agency, the grand opening was attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and First Lady Entissar El-Sisi, along with 79 official delegations from across the globe. The distinguished guest list included 39 heads of state, monarchs, and government leaders, and representatives from prominent regional and international organizations like the Arab League, the African Union, and the United Nations Alliance of Civilisations. The GEM, which is now the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to a single civilization, houses over 100,000 artifacts from Egypt's extensive history. A major highlight is the complete collection of King Tutankhamun's treasures, presented together for the first time in a se tting that combines historical authenticity with contemporary museum architecture. President El-Sisi, in his address, described the museum as a significant symbol of the Egyptian people's historical journey. He emphasized that Egypt's rich heritage has long been a source of inspiration for the world. The President noted that the museum's inauguration reaffirms the Egyptian commitment to a future built on knowledge and peace. The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities stated that the museum's opening sends a global message of peace and civilization.
