Hamdan bin Mohammed Engages UAE-Based Startups in Future Space Sector Dialogue

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of the Supreme Space Council, convened with leading startups in the UAE's space sector. This meeting underscores H.H. Sheikh Hamdan's commitment to enhancing the national space ecosystem and promoting its global leadership in the industry.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized the significance of robust partnerships and strategic public-private collaborations to foster an advanced and innovative space ecosystem. He pointed out that ongoing innovation and sustained investment in future technologies are crucial to advancing the sector.

Sheikh Hamdan expressed confidence in UAE-based companies and entrepreneurs, recognizing their pivotal role in propelling the growth of the local space industry and reinforcing the country's status as a premier global hub in this strategic domain.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan also stressed the space sector's role as a key driver of future and sustainable economic growth, underscoring the UAE's commitment to creating a supportive environment for national companies. This environment is intended to unlock new investment opportunities, enhance innovation, and bolster the country's global competitiveness and leadership in space. The private sector's leadership in the UAE's space scene underscores the maturity of national investments established over the past 30 years.

The meeting featured a diverse group of UAE-based companies, each specializing in areas such as locally developed IoT solutions, AI and remote sensing, commercial space ecosystem development, edge computing for robotics, high-resolution Earth observation via microsatellites, AI systems, robotics, interactive simulation technologies, and reusable space launch systems.

Participants shared their project insights, long-term strategies, and future investment plans aimed at supporting the national economy. Discussions emphasized strengthening public-private collaborations, expanding operations locally and internationally, and exploring promising opportunities within the UAE's growing space sector. This highlights the private sector's vital role in shaping a globally competitive and integrated space industry.

Company representatives reiterated their commitment to the UAE's space goals and outlined plans for expanding their operations within the country. They commended the UAE's flexible regulatory framework and advanced infrastructure as crucial facilitators of sustainable investment. Attendees also praised initiatives like the Space Economic Zones Programme, which they believe are instrumental in enabling collaboration and fostering long-term, sustainable growth across the space ecosystem.

The meeting was attended by key figures such as Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports, Secretary-General of the Supreme Space Council, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Space Agency; Khalid Al Awadi, founder of Rimal; Ibrahim Al Obaidly, founder of Ardhiyat Al Ibdaa Information Solutions; David Critchley, CEO of 4EI; Dr. Hamdullah Mohib, CEO of Marlan Space; Alex Lapir, CEO of Aliensense; Abdulhalim Jallad, co-founder of Oryx Space; and Stan Rudenko, CEO of Aspire Space Technology.
