Hamdan Bin Mohammed Forms Data and Statistics Committee in Dubai

Sharjah: In his capacity as the Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, issued Executive Council Resolution No. (13) of 2025, regarding the formation of the Data and Statistics Committee in the Emirate of Dubai.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Resolution stipulates that the Committee will be chaired by the Director General of the Digital Dubai Authority, with Younus Abdulaziz Al Nasser serving as Vice Chairman. The Committee's members include Arif Abdulrahman Ahli, Dr. Mariam Obaid Al Muhairi, Mohammed Yousef Al Mudharreb, Issa Harib bin Haider, Khalid Ali Al Jallaf, Khalid Ahmed Al Falasi, Omar Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Rashid Obaid Al Sharid, and Majida Ali Rashid. Representatives from Dubai's State Security Department and the Dubai Electronic Security Center are also part of the Committee.

The Resolution underscores the importance of data in Dubai's digital transformation, focusing on utilizing AI and advanced technologies to enhance government operations, quality of life, and the digital economy. The Data and Statistics Committee is tasked with integrating the use, exchange, and governance of data and statistics in Dubai. It aims to improve coordination among government entities to address challenges, adapt to developments, and devise solutions, while aligning with the emirate's strategic objectives for data exchange and statistics generation.

The Committee will work on improving operational efficiency, streamlining data dissemination, and exchange through advanced technologies. It will provide insights on strategic data and statistics projects, define data exchange mechanisms, and recommend practices for calculating statistical values and metrics.

The Committee is also responsible for ensuring compliance with data and statistics standards set by Dubai Data and Statistics, overseeing adherence to the Data Maturity Framework, and establishing a system for updating records and streamlining data exchange. It will identify essential data for AI applications to enhance service experiences in Dubai.

Government entities are required to cooperate with the Data and Statistics Committee, providing requested data, information, and documents on time to support the Committee's tasks and responsibilities under this resolution and applicable legislation.

According to the Resolution, Dubai Data and Statistics will provide administrative and technical support to the Committee. The Chairman of the Data and Statistics Committee will issue necessary decisions to enforce the provisions of this resolution, replacing Executive Council Decision No. (2) of 2008 concerning the Statistical Coordination Committee.

This Resolution annuls any conflicting legislation, is effective from its issuance date, and will be published in the Official Gazette.
