Hamdan bin Mohammed Meets Contributors of Edge of Life Campaign

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), recently met with donors and contributors to the Edge of Life campaign, which aims to rescue five million children from hunger.

According to Emirates News Agency, the campaign was launched during Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, with a goal to raise AED1 billion to combat childhood hunger globally. Sheikh Hamdan praised the public's strong response to the campaign, emphasizing the UAE's foundational values of generosity and compassion, and the community's commitment to supporting millions worldwide.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan commended the supporters and contributors for their roles in achieving the campaign's goals of addressing childhood hunger in vulnerable communities. He stated that the success of the campaign underscores the UAE's position as a global hub for humanitarian action and sends a message of hope worldwide.

Sheikh Hamdan expressed pride in the overwhelming support from contributors, highlighting their partnership in this mission. He emphasized the urgency of protecting children from hunger and its consequences, noting that every contribution represents a chance to save lives and empower future generations.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and Saeed Al Eter, CEO of MBRGI.

The Edge of Life campaign, organized under MBRGI in partnership with international organizations like UNICEF and Save the Children, continues to welcome support from individuals and institutions. It focuses on aiding children in vulnerable communities, particularly in areas affected by disasters and conflicts, where statistics indicate that five children under five die from malnutrition every minute globally.

A critical measure in the campaign is the middle upper arm circumference (MUAC), where a measurement below 11.5 centimeters indicates severe wasting and a life-threatening state, necessitating urgent intervention to prevent death.
