Hamdan bin Mohammed Reviews RTA’s Innovative Mobility Projects

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, recently reviewed specialized initiatives and projects being undertaken by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA). These initiatives include the rapid intervention vehicle, the smart bus station, and soft mobility parking facilities.

According to Emirates News Agency, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan was briefed by Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA, on the details and objectives of these initiatives. They are designed to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the mobility system in Dubai. H.H. Sheikh Hamdan emphasized that these projects reflect the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to position Dubai as a leading global city in adopting innovative solutions and future technologies.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan highlighted that the projects are a redefinition of urban mobility in line with international standards. They reflect Dubai's ambition to anticipate and realize the future through innovation, with advanced technologies as a key tool. He reiterated the commitment to smart and sustainable solutions that enhance systemic efficiency and ensure a high quality of life for citizens, residents, and visitors.

The visit to the RTA, accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, reflects the leadership's commitment to monitoring government work through direct field inspections. This approach supports faster project delivery and maximizes the developmental impact, contributing to the highest standards of living in Dubai.

One of the highlighted projects was the rapid intervention vehicle, developed to enhance readiness for emergencies and heavy rainfall while ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow. This vehicle, equipped with advanced equipment, can pump water at a rate of 1,000 litres per second and operate in depths of up to 1.8 metres. It significantly reduces response times for water-related emergencies, enhancing safety and minimizing disruption.

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan also reviewed the smart bus station, which is part of RTA's digital transformation and sustainability drive. The station, located on Sheikh Zayed Road in Al Barsha 2, features contactless, paperless digital services, solar panels, AI-powered cameras, and smart sensors. It meets LEED Platinum standards, ensuring a comfortable and sustainable experience for customers.

In support of sustainable mobility, Sheikh Hamdan reviewed the soft mobility parking facilities project. This project aims to facilitate the use of bicycles and electric scooters with modern designs, scooter-charging capability, and smart monitoring systems. The initiative aligns with global best practices and supports seamless integration with the public transport network.

Mattar Al Tayer stated that these initiatives demonstrate RTA's commitment to harnessing advanced technologies for an integrated and sustainable transport system. This commitment enhances the quality of life, promotes well-being, and reinforces Dubai's position as a global leader in smart mobility and sustainability.
