Hong Kong:The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has recorded its hottest October since weather observations began in 1884. The city's weather service released data over the weekend confirming this climatic milestone.
According to Sharjah 24, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Observatory reported a monthly mean temperature of 27.6°C, marking a 0.2°C increase from last year’s previous record for the same period.
This unprecedented heat is attributed to an exceptionally strong El Nino, which has been raising temperatures globally. Meteorologists have been warning that this El Nino could be the strongest ever documented. This natural climate cycle temporarily increases sea temperatures in the tropical Pacific, leading to significant weather changes that heighten the risks of drought and flooding and exacerbate the impacts of man-made global warming.
Earlier this year, Hong Kong experienced its highest recorded temperature of 36.9°C in August, as Typhoon Dolphin brought warm air across the city.
