Humanoid Robot Shatters Human Half-Marathon World Record in Beijing

Beijing: A humanoid robot competing against flesh-and-blood runners has broken the world record at a Beijing half-marathon, showcasing the rapid technological advancements achieved by Chinese makers. The event marked a significant milestone in the integration of robotics in competitive sports, as the humanoid robot took the spotlight amid a field of human athletes.

According to Emirates News Agency, the winning humanoid, equipped with an autonomous navigation system and running for Chinese smartphone maker Honor, completed the roughly 21km (13-mile) course in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, at an average speed of about 25km/h (15.5mph). This impressive feat not only outpaced the top human competitor in Sunday's race but also surpassed the current men's world record of 57:20, held by Ugandan runner Jacob Kiplimo.

The robot's achievement highlights the rapid pace of technological development in robotics and artificial intelligence, as well as the potential for these technologies to participate in and even dominate traditional human activities. The success of the humanoid in Beijing may pave the way for future innovations and competitions featuring robotic participants.
