Hurricane Leslie expected to bring heavy winds, rain to Florida

The US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) has issued a warning that Tropical Storm Leslie has strengthened into a hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean, with wind speeds reaching up to 120 kilometres per hour. The Miami Herald reported that meteorologists have warned of heavy rainfall expected to impact parts of Florida starting Sunday, and continuing through mid-next week. This latest forecast follows days after Hurricane Helen struck Florida's Gulf Coast, causing catastrophic damage in western North Carolina and parts of Tennessee, Georgia, and Virginia.
