IACAD Pledges AED1 Million to Combat Child Hunger Through Edge of Life Campaign

Dubai: The Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai (IACAD) has announced its contribution of AED1 million to the Edge of Life campaign, an initiative aimed at rescuing five million children from the clutches of hunger. This campaign, launched during Ramadan by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, seeks to raise a minimum of AED1 billion to combat childhood hunger globally.

According to Emirates News Agency, the Edge of Life campaign operates under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) and strives to inspire a community-wide movement toward achieving its goals. The campaign focuses on children in the world's most vulnerable communities, particularly those affected by natural disasters and conflicts. Alarming statistics indicate that five children under the age of five succumb to malnutrition and hunger worldwide every minute.

Organized in collaboration with UNICEF, Save the Children, the Children's Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and Action Against Hunger, the campaign presents a unified front in the battle against child hunger. Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director-General of IACAD, highlighted that the campaign sets an inspiring precedent for organized humanitarian efforts with a clear vision and lasting impact.

Al Muhairi also emphasized the nobility of feeding the impoverished and hungry, asserting that the campaign's mission to support vulnerable children aligns with these values. He remarked, "IACAD's support of this latest Ramadan campaign reflects our unwavering commitment to joining the UAE's humanitarian efforts, underscoring its status as a global model of giving, and reinforcing its vision of creating a lasting positive impact in underprivileged communities."

The campaign is open to donations from both institutions and individuals through seven main channels. Supporters can contribute via the campaign's website (www.edgeoflife.ae) or contact the dedicated call center at the toll-free number (800 4999). Bank transfers in UAE dirhams can be made to the campaign bank account with Emirates Islamic Bank (IBAN: AE940340003708472909222).

Donations via SMS are available by sending the word 'LIFE' to designated numbers to donate varying amounts (AED10, AED50, AED100, or AED500). Additionally, contributions can be made through the DubaiNow app and YallaGive.com under the "Donations" tab, as well as Dubai's community contributions platform Jood (Jood.ae).
