Dubai: The 12th International Congress for Joint Reconstruction, Middle East (ICJR ME) wrapped up at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel in Dubai, drawing participation from 1,000 doctors and surgeons across 20 countries. According to Emirates News Agency, the Congress underscored the necessity for medical professionals to stay abreast of global technological advancements, with a strong focus on the integration of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. These technologies are anticipated to play a crucial role in the near future, driven by the rapid pace of scientific innovations. Dr. Samih Tarabichi, President of the Congress organised by Info Plus Events, highlighted the transformative potential of robotics and AI in joint replacement surgeries. He emphasized the need for comprehensive training and proper qualification of doctors to ensure these technologies are effectively utilized. Dr. Tarabichi stressed the importance of doctors thoroughly understanding the pros and cons of each techniq ue, noting that these technologies should be used as precise supporting tools. He also pointed out that international companies that market these advanced technologies focus heavily on training surgeons, given the sensitive nature of applying these devices in human surgeries. Dr. Tarabichi further explained that the International Congress for Joint Reconstruction (ICJR) was established as an independent non-profit organization with a mission to innovate orthopedic medical education. The organization aims to improve patient health outcomes worldwide through novel educational approaches. The organization plans to expand its reach in the region by including four additional countries alongside the UAE and Egypt. Additionally, the number of Illinois Board of Directors meetings will increase to four annually, and 16 training courses will be conducted throughout regional countries to ensure surgeons are equipped with the necessary skills in robotics and AI. An innovative new website is set to be launched by ICJR next year. This platform will facilitate the exchange of ideas and information among local and international medical professionals, showcasing the latest research and innovations. Throughout the three-day conference, participants engaged in over 21 sessions and 130 scientific lectures, exploring the latest advancements in joint surgery, including joint design, 3D printing applications, and robotic surgery innovations. The event offered discussions on complex cases and featured seminars and workshops focused on best practices for joint replacement. Additionally, it covered the latest global developments in sports and ankle medicine and joint reimplantation. The conference also included the presentation of 39 scientific research papers, 13 of which were from doctors and resident doctors, and hosted four training workshops organized by companies participating in the accompanying exhibition.
