Sharjah: Ikigai Steel, a prominent player in the fields of structural steel engineering, fabrication, and construction, has successfully completed over 20 significant industrial and commercial projects throughout the UAE and the broader Gulf region.
According to Emirates News Agency, operating from its newly established factory located in Sharjah's Hamriyah Free Zone, the company has invested AED 30 million into a facility that spans 548,000 square feet. With this robust foundation, Ikigai Steel is now setting its sights on international expansion, targeting markets in Canada and Africa. The company aims to increase its annual production capacity to 45,000 tonnes.
The achievement underscores Sharjah's emerging status as a global hub for industrial investment and international business expansion. Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of the Hamriyah Free Zone Authority, toured Ikigai's new facility and was welcomed by CEO Rohan Raj Nadarajan along with officials from both parties.
During the visit, Al Mazrouei received an overview of the factory's advanced manufacturing systems, which feature precision laser cutting and automated welding lines. Additionally, the facility is equipped with proprietary 3D steel twisting/forming technology, enabling the production of complex structural components for high-profile projects such as stadiums, bridges, airports, and iconic architectural structures.
Company executives also highlighted the factors driving Ikigai Steel's success, including stringent quality and safety protocols within its manufacturing operations. Discussions also centered on Ikigai Steel's role in regional infrastructure supply chains and its ambitious expansion plans, bolstered by a growing client base that includes major entities like Abu Dhabi Airports, Emaar, Neom/Air Products/CCC, Red Sea Global/China Steel, ALEC, AES, Dutco, Pfeifer, Meraki, and Sobha.
Al Mazrouei emphasized Sharjah's strengthening position as a leading industrial hub in the region, capable of attracting high-quality projects and supporting their sustainable growth. In response, Ikigai Steel CEO Rohan Raj credited the strategic location and advanced infrastructure of the Hamriyah Free Zone for the company's significant growth and successful execution of large-scale projects.
Rohan further pointed out that the company's rapid workforce expansion, now exceeding 200 employees, is a testament to its operational growth and ability to attract and develop skilled talent, particularly in advanced manufacturing and 3D steel twisting/forming technology, which is among the industry's most innovative advancements.
