TEHRAN, - President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi called for expanding relations between Tehran and Riyadh and using mutual potential on Tuesday.
The state-run news agency (IRNA) reported that Raisi made these remarks while receiving credentials of newly appointed Saudi Ambassador to Tehran, Abdullah Al-Enezi.
The agency quoted Raisi as saying: "Using mutual capacities and expanding ties between the two countries will be effective in developing and strengthening regional cooperation and resolving regional and Islamic world issues".
President Raisi emphasized the necessity of diplomatic work in strengthening bilateral relations and achieving aspirations of people.
The Saudi Ambassador, on his part, described the event as historic and called the Saudi-Iranian relations as "very strong".
Al-Enezi added that the Saudi and Iranian people share far more commonalities than they do differences and expressed hope that these relations and cooperation expand further.
