Tehran, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Iraqi Prime Minister Mohamed Shia' Al Sudani, who is currently visiting Tehran, affirmed their countries positions towards the Palestinian cause, stressing the necessity of stopping the Israeli occupations bombing of the Gaza Strip and a ceasefire.
"We believe that the Israeli bombings of Gaza must be stopped immediately, a ceasefire be established and aid be provided to the oppressed and powerful people of Gaza," Raisi said at a press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister.
The Iranian president called the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip a "genocide", particularly against children, carried out with the support of the Western countries.
"Therefore, we cooperate with and support any action that is taken at the level of Islamic countries as well as regional and international countries to prevent the Israeli entity from killing and massacring the innocent people of Gaza," he added.
For his part, the Iraqi Prime Minister said that the international community and institutions have failed to fulfill their duties and obligations concerning Palestine. He added that the people of Gaza live in a large prison in front of the eyes of the world.
Anyone who wants to contain the conflict and prevent its spread in the region must stop the aggression of the Israeli entity, he said, emphasizing that the Palestinian crisis is a result of the criminal policies of the occupation.
Al Sudani said that the decision to drag the region into a comprehensive war is in the hands of the party that is committing aggression against Gaza, indicating that Iraq has proposed the establishment of a fund for the reconstruction of Gaza and is willing to contribute to it.
The Iraqi Prime Minister also said that his country is in contact with regional states for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
The Iraqi Prime Minister arrived in Tehran Monday morning on an official visit as part of a regional tour to discuss the developments in Gaza.
