Damascus, An Israeli airstrike targeted on Monday the Iranian consulate building in Mezzeh neighborhood in Damascus, a Syrian military source said. Syrian SANA news agency reported the source as saying that the airstrike caused massive destruction to the building and damage to neighboring buildings, and left several killed and injured. The source added that work is underway to recover bodies, treat the wounded, and remove the rubble. For its part, Iran's IRNA news agency, citing Iranian television, reported that the airstrike targeted the Iranian consulate building and the residence of the Iranian ambassador in Damascus.
