Khalifa University and LODD Autonomous Forge Partnership to Advance UAV Technologies

Abu dhabi: Khalifa University of Science and Technology and LODD Autonomous have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing collaboration in electric powertrain development, aerospace mobility, and student experiential learning. The partnership is set to bolster the UAE's position in next-generation aviation technologies, with a focus on hybrid vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

According to Emirates News Agency, the MoU was signed by Professor Ebrahim Al Hajri, President of Khalifa University, and Rashid Mattar Al Manai, Chief Executive Officer of LODD Autonomous. Professor Al Hajri emphasized that the partnership is a testament to the university's commitment to developing engineering talent and advancing sustainable aviation and clean energy technologies. He highlighted the importance of the collaboration in ensuring that students engage with real-world challenges and contribute to the UAE's future-focused sectors.

Rashid Mattar Al Manai expressed that the collaboration allows LODD Autonomous to work closely with young engineers and researchers, thereby supporting the development of advanced air mobility solutions in the UAE. He noted that the MoU aligns academic research with operational needs, marking a significant step in the industry-academic partnership.

The agreement includes plans for a pilot project in Electric Powertrain Analysis and Design, which will involve Khalifa University undergraduate students. Opportunities for sponsored graduate research will be available through the University's Advanced Power and Energy Center (APEC). The collaboration also features joint technical lectures, industry-academic visits, and internship placements for students at LODD's facilities in Abu Dhabi, enhancing learning and innovation in the field.
