Seoul: A magnitude 3.1 earthquake struck off the south-western coast of the Republic of Korea on Sunday. The earthquake was detected 21 kilometres west of Haenam County in the south-west of the country at 06:43 local time.
According to Emirates News Agency, state-run Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power stated that all nuclear power plants in the country were operating normally and had not been affected by the earthquake. They added that seismic readings at all nuclear facilities remained below the minimum threshold required to trigger an alert.
The Nuclear Safety and Security Commission also reported that no safety-related issues had been detected at any nuclear reactor facilities, as mentioned by the Korean Yonhap News Agency.
