Major Road Upgrades Announced for Mussafah

Mussafah:The Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT) has announced a significant plan to upgrade key roads in Mussafah, aiming to improve travel between the industrial area, Mohamed Bin Zayed City, and Zayed City.

According to Emirates News Agency, the project will cover approximately 13 kilometers along E30 and 8th Street, with the primary goal of easing congestion, enhancing safety, and reducing travel times. A new free-flowing highway along 8th Street will feature three lanes in each direction, alongside three additional lanes on each side for improved access to local amenities without disrupting expressway traffic. This configuration is expected to accommodate about 4,000 vehicles per hour.

In addition to the highway, the project includes upgrades to four interchanges along E30, enhanced connections with 8th Street and E20, and modifications at nine key junctions. Plans are also in place for two new bridges linking Mussafah and Mohamed Bin Zayed City, as well as a pedestrian bridge.

Engineer Eisa Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Director-General of Infrastructure Development at DMT, emphasized that the Mussafah road network is crucial for residents, businesses, and local travel. By improving traffic flow and local access, the upgrades will support economic activity and ease daily commutes.

These upgrades are part of broader efforts to enhance connectivity across the emirate, including a planned two-tunnel undersea link from the eastern tip of Abu Dhabi Island to Mussafah, passing beneath Khor Al Maqta and Al Hudayriyat Island channel.
