Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, held a meeting with Karl Hofstetter, Chairman of the Kuoni and Hugentobler Foundation Council, at his office in Dubai. The discussions were centered on the UAE's efforts to establish partnerships with global leaders in travel, tourism, and service sectors to enhance global connectivity and improve the visitor experience.
According to Emirates News Agency, the meeting underscored the UAE's integrated strategy that combines advanced infrastructure, business-friendly regulations, and a dynamic investment environment to bolster its status as a premier global hub for travel, tourism, and services. The dialogue explored potential collaborations between Dubai and the foundation in areas such as travel facilitation, tourism services, and technological innovation, emphasizing the importance of partnerships with international industry leaders in achieving Dubai's vision for global mobility and streamlined travel.
The discussions also touched upon the Foundation's philanthropic efforts, which align with Dubai and the UAE's dedication to promoting global welfare and supporting communities worldwide. Founded in 1957 and headquartered in Stans, Switzerland, the Kuoni and Hugentobler Foundation is a major shareholder in VFS Global and Hotelbeds Group. It owns Kuoni Travel Holding Ltd and Kuoni Travel IP Ltd, managing its travel operations and safeguarding its global brand assets.
The foundation's strategy includes both strategic investments and charitable initiatives aimed at environmental protection, cultural understanding, and aiding disadvantaged children in tourism regions. The meeting was attended by key UAE officials including Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs; Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET); and Essa Kazim, Governor of Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
