Maktoum bin Mohammed Engages with Robinhood CEO to Bolster Financial Sector

Dubai: H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who holds the positions of First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance, and President of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), engaged in a meeting with Vlad Tenev, the Chief Executive Officer and President of Robinhood Markets, Inc. This meeting took place at His Highness's office in Nad Al Sheba, Dubai, focusing on enhancing the financial landscape of Dubai and the UAE.

According to Emirates News Agency, the discussions centered on strengthening collaboration by utilizing Dubai's robust infrastructure and business-friendly environment. H.H. Sheikh Maktoum reiterated the strategic aim of Dubai and the UAE to advance its financial ecosystem, keeping it innovative and competitive globally. The meeting underscored Dubai's position as a preferred hub for global financial enterprises aiming to expand into regions such as the Middle East and Africa.

H.H. Sheikh Maktoum highlighted the commitment of Dubai and the UAE to establish strategic alliances with pioneering companies like Robinhood. He emphasized that Dubai's advanced infrastructure and supportive regulatory framework provide international firms with opportunities to expand into rapidly growing regional markets. Such collaborations are seen as key to achieving the objectives of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which targets doubling Dubai's GDP and positioning it among the top four global financial hubs by 2033.

Robinhood, founded by Vlad Tenev in 2013, has become a leading financial services company, known for offering commission-free trading and investment services. Based in Menlo Park, California, the company serves 26.7 million funded customers and reported total platform assets of $304 billion as of the end of August 2025. In 2024, Robinhood's total net revenues saw a 58% increase, reaching $2.95 billion.

The meeting was also attended by Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism.
