London: Manchester City have won the 2024 Community Shield after beating Manchester United on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Wembley Stadium. Bernardo Silva's close-range header in the 89th minute cancelled out Alejandro Garnacho's opener which forced the show-piece to spot-kicks. Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Savinho, Ederson, Matheus Nunes, Ruben Dias and Manuel Akanji made no mistake from 12 yards while Manchester City's goalkeeper saved Jadon Sancho's effort before Jonny Evans missed the target which saw the team win 7-6 to kickstart the 2024/25 season in style.
