Abu dhabi: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, has announced a resolution to establish the 'National Committee for the UAE Union Narrative'. This new committee will serve as the sole authority for documenting the official historical account of the founding of the United Arab Emirates.
According to Emirates News Agency, the committee is tasked with ensuring the accurate documentation of events surrounding the formation of the Union, drafting the official Union Narrative, and aligning national, media, and educational content with its principles. The narrative will emphasize the pivotal role of the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in the nation's formation.
Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Advisor to the UAE President, will chair the committee, which will include representatives from various national and emirate-level entities. These include the Presidential Protocol and Strategic Narrative Authority, the National Media Office, and several executive councils. The committee's responsibilities encompass preparing and approving the official Union Narrative document, ensuring historical accuracy, and maintaining consistency across national content.
The committee is also responsible for approving national campaigns related to the Union and its symbols, ensuring their alignment with the Union Narrative. It will work with government bodies and national institutions to maintain a cohesive narrative and provide recommendations to ensure alignment with the approved narrative. The committee will also periodically review and update the Union Narrative to incorporate credible historical developments.
Coordination with federal and local entities, as well as national institutions, is essential for ensuring narrative consistency. These entities must seek committee approval for any content related to the Union or its symbols prior to publication. The resolution also allows the committee to form working groups and seek expert support, though these experts will not have voting rights in committee decisions. Any conflicting provisions with the resolution are annulled.
