Doha: On behalf of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, led the UAE delegation to the Extraordinary Session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit. These summits were inaugurated today by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar.
According to Emirates News Agency, the summits saw participation from leaders of Gulf, Arab, and Islamic states, alongside their heads of government, representatives, and relevant Arab and Islamic organizations. They convened to address the Israeli aggression against Qatari territory. The UAE delegation included several high-ranking officials such as H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and other ministers of state.
In a statement distributed during the summit, the UAE reaffirmed its full support for Qatar in confronting the Israeli aggression against its territory. The UAE emphasized the importance of upholding international law and respecting state sovereignty to deter Israel and achieve peace. It also stressed that Qatar is not alone, and the united voice of Arab and Islamic countries must lead to change.
The statement highlighted the region's current instability and rapid changes, necessitating increased coordination among countries to maintain regional stability and achieve development. The UAE condemned the bombardment of Doha by Israel on September 9 as a violation of international law and expressed solidarity with Qatar, extending condolences over the loss of a member of Qatar's Internal Security Force due to the assault.
The UAE criticized Israel's actions as undermining efforts for lasting peace and regional stability, exacerbating violence and extremism. It called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to take action against these aggressions, warning of grave repercussions for regional and international peace.
The UAE reiterated that the security of GCC states is indivisible and confirmed its firm support for Qatar. The statement concluded with gratitude to contributors of the summit and expressed hope for de-escalation and restoration of calm in the region.
