Masdar City:Masdar City Free Zone has been recognized as one of the top 10 free zones globally at the fDi Global Free Zones of the Year Awards 2026, a recognition that boosts its global standing and investor confidence.
According to Emirates News Agency, Dr. Mohamed Al Breiki, Executive Director of Masdar City, stated that this ranking is an independent endorsement of the Free Zone's investment environment and services. It validates the decision of more than 2,800 companies to operate there, underscoring the Free Zone's competitiveness.
The Free Zone offers international companies advantages such as one-day licensing, 100% foreign ownership, and exemption from personal income tax. It also supports dual licensing for operations within the Free Zone and across Abu Dhabi. Sustainability is a core aspect of Masdar City's design, aimed at reducing operating costs and supporting companies in achieving environmental, social, and governance goals.
Masdar City Free Zone was also highly commended in the Knowledge Zones of the Year category, both globally and regionally, highlighting its role in fostering innovation through collaboration between researchers, entrepreneurs, and investors. The Free Zone hosts over 2,800 companies from more than 90 countries and offers simplified company setup processes starting from AED7,000. It supports Abu Dhabi's Falcon Economy objectives across six key clusters artificial intelligence, AgriTech, life sciences, energy, smart mobility, and Space Tech.
Masdar City's expansion into the Chinese market includes opening representative offices in Suzhou, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, encouraging Chinese companies to set up in Abu Dhabi. More than 26 Chinese companies have registered since the Suzhou office opened, with a memorandum of understanding with China Machinery Engineering Corporation poised to attract more.
Dr. Al Breiki emphasized the Free Zone's commitment to developing an integrated journey for companies, simplifying setup processes, and expanding networking and market access.
